Aaaaaaand we are back! Just came back from one of the best trips of all time with some of the best people. Now, we get back to work! And when I say work, I don’t just mean the kind you do sitting at the office. I mean, let’s get to work to become better at all aspects of life. Remember, that balance creates happiness, and happiness creates success. You want to be better at all aspects of life, then be happy.

And how do we find happiness? We get to work!

Last time we chatted we were talking about how the author feels as though it takes a full 30 days to build a habit. Building and sustaining the right habits takes a great strategy. If we know up front what kind of road blocks we are going to face, the easier it will be to overcome them. Because they are going to happen. He starts by dividing the 30 days up into three 10-day intervals. Here we go!

Phase 1 (Day 1-10) Unbearable–“The first 10 days of implementing any new habit, or ridding yourself of any old habit, can feel almost unbearable.” The first few days might feel fun and exciting, but as soon as that wears off, reality sets in. It’s painful, its hard, and you hate it. It’s not fun anymore. Every fiber of your being tends to resist and reject the change.

What people don't realize is that this seemingly unbearable first 10 days is only temporary.

Instead, many of us feel like this is how the new habit is always going to feel. As a result, 95% of society quits. And their mediocre life sets back in.

Here is where we have an advantage over the 95%. We now know that it is going to be hard. We now know it is going to suck. We now know that sometimes it is going to feel “unbearable”. But once again, it is only temporary. Anyone can do anything for 10 days. And let me be the first to tell you that the results that come from pushing through the first 10 days will begin to change your life. I posted on Facebook a couple weeks back that “Sometimes I hate the commitment, but that I already love the result.” There you have it. Sometimes the commitment to do great things sucks. But I can not even begin to tell you how much it is worth it. Begin your path to happiness through self-disciple starting today.

Yours truly,
