Speak the good word, my great people. Today, Jack continues his discussion about increasing your self-worth, which in my humble opinion, always increases your net worth. In yesterday’s blog, we talked about standing at the mirror every night to go over the previous day’s accomplishments. I wanted to go over this concept in a little more detail, if I may.

When you stand at the mirror before you retire to bed, firstly, make sure to look directly into the eyes of the person in the mirror. Secondly, address yourself by name and then proceed by appreciating yourself for the following things:

  • Any achievements—business, financial, educational, spiritual, physical, and emotional (relationships with family and friends).
  • Any personal disciplines you kept/keep—dietary, reading, professional, meditation, prayer, etc.
  • Any temptations you did not give into—lying, eating desert, watching too much TV, staying up too late, being lazy.

When you are finished listing those things you appreciate about yourself continue to look yourself in the eyes and say, “I like myself.” “I am happy.” “I am successful.” “I love you.” Then stand there for a few seconds to feel the impact of what just happened.

Let’s put this activity into practice; this may look similar to this, “Marc, I wanted to tell you that I appreciate that you woke up early and started the day off with growth and self-development. I can see how hard you work to get better every day. I was proud of you when you were able to overcome that really difficult conversation with ‘X’ sales manager. You were a freaking baller when you pushed yourself to do 3 extra reps of the bench press at the gym. Nice work turning down that Dr. Pepper today. You were a fantastic dad today as well. Especially when you taught Boston the importance of opening the door for woman.” The list can go on and on with how you can personally put this activity into action, and it should.

Your natural instinct is going to be to be a little embarrassed with this process.

I was for quite some time. Who talks to themselves in the mirror? Let me tell you who does. Bad asses who want to become better. I am telling you that this exercise will change your life, so don’t be afraid to do it. I cannot tell you how many times my kids have walked in on me doing this and said, “Dad, are you doing your, ‘I like myselves’?” Once again, improving your self-worth will only improve your net worth. The world needs more people who believe in themselves. Why? Because it is those who believe in themselves who are the same people that change the world. They innovate it, they run it, and they have a damn good time doing it.

Dominate the world, today!

Yours truly,

Get on this train, Cram
