My good peeps!  It is good to be back. I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday weekend. Life is good, and America is great! Today, Jack Canfield, continues to talk about how to make your lives better by seeking after and following the right feedback. As we have talked about before, one of the best questions you can ask others is, “how am I limiting myself?” For most, that is a very tough question to ask because you are afraid of the answer. What is interesting, is in most cases you will actually be thanking them for their valuable feedback. If you don’t ask for constructive feedback, you are the only one, who at that point, is not in on the secret of how valuable feedback can be. Chances are that those who you have asked for feedback, have already told a colleague or a spouse about what you do wrong. However, they are unwilling to tell you, for fear of your reaction, that is unless, of course, you proactively reach out and ask. Canfield, continues by saying,

First you need to seek for feedback often, and then be open to listening and following it. Second, you must be grateful for the feedback. Do not get defensive!

Remember, feedback is a gift, which will absolutely help you get to where you want to go so much faster, if used correctly, so be grateful for it. Once you have received the feedback, go in and decide what fits for you. What things you are going to use and how you are going to use it? Take whatever steps necessary to improve your situation. Including changing your behavior.

Here are some questions you might ask others around you:

‘On a scale from 1 to 10….’

  1. “How would you rate the meeting we just had?”
  2. “How effective do you think I am as a leader?”
  3. “How effective am I at being part of the team?”
  4. “How effective am I as your spouse?”
  5. “How effective am I as an employee?”

After you have asked these questions and have received a score for each question, examine each result. If each result is not a 10, ask those you received feedback from what they think you can do to improve your score to a 10.

When you receive an answer, then it’s time to go to freaking work! I have to admit this concept has not been one of my strong suits during the course of my life. To be honest, I never really thought about reaching out to other people to get feedback. I figured they were all too busy to give it to me, and that it was just my job to figure it out. But, having gone through these concepts over the last couple days, I am calling myself to repentance.

This is yet another way to get to where you want to go so much faster and more efficiently.  So, with that being said, I challenge all to do it. Continue to find ways to improve. Continue to find ways to get better. Continue to find ways to dominate the world in your own way!  Finally, enjoy doing it with the help of the ones you love.
