My goodness! Can Tuesday be a better day to be alive? Today, Jack continues to talk about improvement. He says, “one of the most important things you can do every day is push to improve in every way.” You will enjoy the feelings of increased self-esteem and self-confidence, which come from self-improvement. Watch for the success that will inevitably follow. Again, as we talked yesterday, the production comes from the daily routine. Let’s think about this for a second as I use myself as an example. I am a gigantic fan of Dr. Pepper, and I truly believe it will be the drink of the celestials. Ha ha.

If I were to replace that juicy Dr. Pepper at lunch time with a glass of water every day for a year, I would drink over 40 extra gallons of water. Along with that, I would avoid consuming 50,000 empty calories, the equivalent of fasting for about 22 days. I would save $500 in expenses. If you were to cut out an hour a day of TV, that would be the equivalent of nine 40 hour work weeks, adding an extra two months to your life every year. Over the course of 12 years, that would add two extra years of focused time.

What you would do with that extra two months is totally up to you. Whether you would read books, work on relationships, work out at the gym, or write music. It doesn’t matter. The point is that we waste so much time. That is one of the biggest concepts I have learned while reading the book The Slight Edge. So much damn time is wasted.

Take a second to walk yourself through a normal day in your life. Now, think to yourself how much is WASTED time.

  • How much time do you lollygag in the morning to get ready?
  • Think about how much time you spent surfing the internet and looking at social media.
  • How much wasted time did you spend being reactive at work instead of proactive?
  • How much time did you spend watching TV?
  • How much time did you waste walking around to sidewalks, instead of cutting through yards?
  • How much time did you waste sleeping in?

It is amazing how much extra time you would have to do the things that mattered, if you minimized the time doing the things that yield zero results. There is so much wisdom in the concept of working hard and smart. You can put your head down and work 24 hours a day, but that does not mean that you will have guaranteed success.

I believe guaranteed success comes from working day in and day out on the things that push you closer to your why.

It means focusing on what is important, and cutting out the bull shiz that is not. It means getting rid of the complaining and focusing on the creating. Today my heart is full of gratitude because the good Lord has blessed me with so many things; and now it is my life’s work to maximize those talents. So today, and every day, I challenge all of us to be the best damn version of ourselves that we can be. Forget about the haters and the naysayers, and focus on dominating today in your own way!

Yours truly,

We keep on keeping on, Cram
