Hello Wednesday. Coming at you hard! Today we will finish up with the steps to having a strategy when you are growing. Why? To help you get to where you want to go so much quicker. Once you have made the decision to put in the time, you might as well maximize it.

  1. Effective Systems Employ Organization – “The #1 timewaster for most people is looking for something that is lost.” John C. Maxwell talked about one of the systems he had was to talk to his secretary at least once a day, 365 days a year. In the conversations, she would help him confirm he was organized for the day and followed his systems. He then said that when he filled out his calendar for the month, family activities were/are written in first. Then everything else is scheduled around them. Why? Because his family is his top priority. One of the biggest things I have learned in life is that there is not enough time in the day to do everything.

But, as I have said before, there is time to do what’s important.

But the only way to do that is to follow the example of Maxwell. Know what is most important, and then know exactly what time each day you are going to get it done. Time has a way of getting away from people, yet time is what life is made of. “How you spend your time is more important than how you spend your money.”  Money mistakes can be corrected. But once time has passed, its gone forever.

  1. Effective Systems Promote Consistency – We have talked about this concept so many times so I won’t dwell on it for too long. But if you want to win the long distance race of life, you must learn to be consistent day in and day out, week in and week out, and year in and year out. “You will never change your life until you change something daily.” It’s all about consistency.

Once again, creating systems is easy. Don’t complicate it. The hard part is the consistency. One of the things that has helps me stay consistent in my daily routine is to have people that hold me accountable to what I am trying to accomplish. Whether it is my wife, my gym buddy, my co-workers, my kids, or my friends. The people closest to me know exactly what I want to accomplish, and they hold me accountable. Shout what you are trying to accomplish from the rooftops. Because once you have shared your goals with other people, and the daily process you are going to use to get there, you have placed yourself in a situation to be held accountable. That is a great thing!

Living a life of consistently doing what helps you to grow and progress, is a fulfilled life. And that applies to doctors, lawyers, salesman, stay at home moms/dads, gas station clerks, and everyone else. Be happy by being consistent.
